SNORING, find out if there is a miracle cure?

Unfortunately there is no miracle cure for snoring.

But all is not lost, there are lifestyle changes that will not only help your snoring habit but will also promote good health.

40% of men and 24% of adult women habitually snore. Snoring becomes more common over the age of 40. Alcohol, cigarettes, sedatives and excessive weight are attributed as one of the main causes of snoring.

Alcohol relaxes the soft tissue at the back of the throat and this soft tissue and tongue drop back and partially block the airway. The air passing by this soft tissue causes the sound we know as snoring. Cigarette smoke irritates the soft tissue in the throat and nasal cavity. If the nasal passages become congested the airflow is compromised.

It is no coincidence that people who carry excess weight will more than likely snore. If you have a neck circumference of 17 inches (43cm), or carry a large amount of fat around your neck the chance is, you will snore. Some sports men who bulk e.g. rugby, football and weight builders, although fit, are also prone to snoring.

Although there is no miracle cure, you can make these changes that will definitely help you develop a healthier lifestyle.
